TDM 2000 Malta Participates in the #EcoShift Erasmus+ Project in Madeira, Portugal

TDM 2000 Malta’s participation in the #EcoShift Erasmus+ project held in Madeira, Portugal last October marked an important milestone in the organisation’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and social awareness through non-formal education.

The project provided a valuable opportunity for TDM 2000 Malta to actively contribute to and strengthen international sustainability-focused initiatives. The organisation was represented by two members — one participant and one coordinator — ensuring both meaningful engagement throughout the training programme and structured follow-up at national level.

The immersive training programme approached sustainability as a practical, everyday commitment rather than an abstract concept. Through a range of non-formal learning activities, interactive discussions, and workshops, participants explored how daily practices can be adapted to promote a greener lifestyle and contribute towards climate neutrality by 2050. Central to the programme was the integration of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which served as a framework for comparing progress, challenges, and best practices across different countries and contexts.

A key highlight of the project was the NGO fair, which brought together organisations and participants to exchange ideas, tools, and methodologies. This collaborative space fostered mutual learning and highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing shared sustainability challenges.

The project also placed strong emphasis on the use of digital tools as enablers of sustainable practice. Operating within a paper-free framework, the programme promoted efficient digital communication and content creation. Participants enhanced their digital skills through hands-on use of tools such as Canva and contributed to the development of digital resources and applications aimed at supporting awareness-raising and educational activities.

As part of its commitment to maximising the project’s impact, TDM 2000 Malta disseminated the tools, methodologies, and learning outcomes of the #EcoShift project at a follow-up activity held at the University of Malta in January. This dissemination event provided a platform to share best practices, raise awareness on sustainability issues, and extend the project’s reach to students and members of the academic community.

Implemented by Conexão Jovem, with TDM 2000 Malta as a partner organisation, the #EcoShift project reinforced TDM 2000 Malta’s dedication to sustainability, youth engagement, and non-formal education. Participation in the project strengthened institutional capacity, expanded international networks, and ensured that the project’s outcomes continue to generate impact beyond the duration of the Erasmus+ mobility.
