Strengthening Sustainability Through Sport: TDM 2000 Malta Joins Partners in Cyprus for STELLA Project Meeting

TDM 2000 Malta recently joined fellow partners in Larnaka, Cyprus for the third transnational meeting of Project STELLA – Sport as a Tool for Environmental Sustainability Learning. Held on 26–27 June 2025 and hosted by Active Zone Outdoor, the meeting was a crucial checkpoint as we move into the final stretch of this Erasmus+ project aimed at using sport to educate and inspire youth on sustainability.

As a partner in STELLA, TDM 2000 Malta was actively involved in shaping key outcomes, particularly the development of the STELLA Toolkit, a hands-on manual for youth workers combining sports with non-formal education on environmental themes. The toolkit will be finalised in the coming months, translated into Maltese, and printed in time for our final dissemination activities later this year.

Key Takeaways from Cyprus

  • Toolkit Finalisation: We contributed to refining the structure and content of the STELLA Toolkit. This resource will feature full training packages, energisers, daily schedules, and partner contacts for support.

  • Best Practices Guide: Already finalised and shared among partners, this guide showcases 75 best practices of how sport can be used to promote environmental responsibility.

  • Dissemination Plans: Together with our partners, we mapped out an exciting dissemination campaign starting this September. Youth-driven content, local events, and digital outreach will bring STELLA’s messages to communities across Europe.

  • Workshops and Local Actions: We’ll be rolling out STELLA workshops in Malta until October. These activities are helping us gather direct feedback, which will feed into the final improvements to the toolkit and reporting.

  • Looking Ahead to Braga: We also began planning our participation in the project’s final conference in Braga, Portugal. TDM 2000 Malta will be sending a team to present project outcomes, share our experiences, and celebrate this important milestone together with all partner organisations.

This productive and energising meeting reaffirmed our commitment to combining sport and sustainability in youth work. We're proud to be part of a project that doesn’t just talk about climate action—but actively equips young people with tools to be part of the solution.

Stay tuned for more on Project STELLA!
