TDM 2000 Malta recently energised Valletta’s city centre with a dynamic flash mob and an engaging public information session, shining a spotlight on the STELLA project—Sport as a Tool for Environmental Sustainability Learning. Rooted in the Erasmus+ framework, STELLA aims to strengthen youth environmental education by using sport and movement to inspire ethical, sustainable behaviour among young people.
The initiative began with a preparatory briefing for the group of participating youths, who were introduced to STELLA’s core themes: reducing environmental impact, fostering responsible habits, and understanding how sport can serve as a powerful educational tool. This briefing not only deepened their understanding of the project but also guided the creative process behind their flash mob choreography.
As the performance unfolded, it naturally drew the attention of passers‑by, creating an inviting atmosphere for dialogue. Following the flash mob, TDM 2000 Malta volunteers and youth participants engaged members of the public in conversations about the project’s goals and the broader connection between sport and sustainability. People of all ages were introduced to STELLA’s mission to empower youth and youth workers with practical tools to adopt and promote sustainable behaviours within their communities.
The activity succeeded in transforming a busy public space into a moment of shared learning and inspiration. By blending creativity, movement, and meaningful conversation, TDM 2000 Malta demonstrated how youth‑led initiatives can spark awareness and motivate communities to reflect on their environmental footprint.
