TDM Hands On! - the subsidiary organization to TDM 2000 Malta, which exclusively takes care of charity and voluntary work - has recently embarked on its second Voluntary Project since its establishment in January of last year.
The first project handled by TDM Hands On! "Work Out: Promoting Exercise for All", coordinated by Ms Paula Selvagi, sought to renovate and refurbish the Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Gym at Id-Dar tal-Providenza, and was complete within 9 months. An Official Opening Ceremony was held and attended by the Hon. Dolores Cristina, Minister for the Family & Social Solidarity.
This year, TDM Hands On! has amplified its ambitions and set higher goals in their second project entitled "Reaching for the Stars: All Children have a Right to Play", aiming to reconstruct the grounds at ?Dar Sagra Familja Institute' in Zabbar, in the hope that the children of the Institute can finally benefit from a safe, outdoor play area, where they can play freely to their hearts' content.
"The route of TDM Hands On! is friendship complemented by dedication and teamwork", explained Ms Francesca Agius-Vadala', Project Co-Ordinator for TDM Hands On! "The main aim is to engage volunteers in sheer fun of what really matters; coupled with respect for the less fortunate."
The estimated cost of the project is Lm45,000 which includes expenses of:
- Structural works in the road close-by
- Paving of the Playground itself
- Provision of Playing equipment
and much more.
Therefore, TDM Hands On! has been organizing a series of fund-raising events in order to aid in the collection of these funds. Upcoming activities include a Car Treasure Hunt on Sunday, 15 April at 2pm at the Luxol Grounds, St. Andrews. Prizes to be won include Weekend Breaks, Complementary Meals, hampers and much more.
