PHOTO CONTEST: Are you ready for Democracy

“Are you ready for Democracy?” by Youth A.R.T. and Governorship of Antalya “Are you ready for Democracy?” is a youth in action 1.3 democracy project. It will be of two different parts and target groups. The first part of the project is a series of workshops which aim to raise the awareness of the disadvantages youth between the ages of 16 and 18 have regarding democracy and citizenship just before they have right to vote. (These work shops are specifically for the Turkish Youth in Antalya). We will have nothing to do with this stage but we will see the results of these workshops when we visit Antalya in July. The Second part of the project is going to take place from the 4th to the 13th of July with the participant organizations coming from Malta, Italy and Turkey. All the participant organizations are required to bring photos about the subject “Democracy for youth” from their countries. The photographs are to be taken by the participants attending this exchange. The best photograph taken will be awarded a prize by an international selection panel. All the photos will be gathered and presented in the form of a slide show. During the week in Antalya participants will participate in drama workshops run by professional trainers. There will be a pre-determined theme for the play. After the completion of the workshops and rehearsals, the performance and slide show will be presented to the local public of Antalya in the Phasilis Ancient Theatre. The main objective of this democracy exchange project is to examine democracy, the concepts and problems of democracy in E.U. and pre-accession E.U. countries, using theatre and photography.
